Conviction

Conviction is based on a real-life story. The author heard of a convenience store in Ohio that was staffed by ex-convicts and visited it to learn how the owner developed a culture of trust with people proven to have been on the wrong side of the law. It turns out the owner had bought the store without knowing his employees’ pasts, and, to his credit, he embraced them, earning their loyalty and trust. Much of the dialogue is from the mouths of the staff. Trust is an overused word today. Conviction shows what it really means at the heart.
